New call signs North Coast Region
Just when you get used to the wheelbarrow calls, they now change everything...
Anyone in the know have a list of the new calls for station/units in bribie/cab/red ?
now all using mike - oscar|victor|tango|golf ... and... new digits as well
Strange, since sunny coast still using the same calls (SC412 etc )... well, at least so far

I was told they used the new call signs about 2 weeks ago but then went back to the old ones.

I'm not certain, but I think you will find that Cadoulture District and Redcliffe District have merged under the new changes to become one district called Morton District, which probably explained the Nike Oscar callsign, being the first to letters of that District. The new numbers are probably just the other Districts callsigns now on the same channel, as I assume they have ,erged Caboulture and redcliffe back onto the same channels. As for Golf, Tango and the rest of it who knows, your guess would be as good as mine!!

The new system sounds very confusing
I don't understand why north coast can't just do what Brisbane and South East does and use one phonetic letter and then their call sign's number whilst on local channels and then use the two letters when in another region

That makes sense, but WTF they changed the second alpha and numbers as well is beyond me, and from an hour listening, half them too LOL
for instance, I found it strange that our Bribie cars were over at graham rd, took an hour to discover that MG 441 and 443 are now Burpengarry, and Bribie is now 542 (and presumably 540-543)
Cab CIB cb542 is now MC811 WTF, sound more like a queet st mall beat cop
I'm gathering "G" is for general duties, "C" for CIB, heard a solo "F" I guess is foot or one of those beat post crews.
Maybe they are operating REGION CREW-TYPE STATION-NUMBER CAR-NUMBER
M G 5 42
time will tell....
Gotta say tho, the Burp traffic guys in speed camera are laughing, same ol BT3xx call

They were always on the same radio group, if they split them, it didnt last long (as in hours not days or weeks or..)SteveNSWP wrote:I'm not certain, but I think you will find that Cadoulture District and Redcliffe District have merged under the new changes to become one district called Morton District, which probably explained the Nike Oscar callsign, being the first to letters of that District. and Oscar, I think may be a specialist unit, MO610, perhaps Soccos, when I start hearing more familiar voices I'll have a better idea.

Re: New call signs North Coast Region
yeah, given that there were no clashes, they could have (and a fair few of them did) drop the phonetics altogether, guess now they might not be able to depending on how they have inserted the second alpha into CADmstrkrft wrote:The new system sounds very confusing

Re: New call signs North Coast Region
I have been listening most of the day to Caboolture/Redcliffe comms and they sure are having some problems remembering the new call-signs, an occasional Charlie Bravo is thrown in, and the odd Bravo Tango pops up too.
I have logged 40 different Call-signs so far. Mike-Alpha/Bravo/Charlie/Delta/Foxtrot/Golf/India/Oscar/Romeo/Tango/Victor. I have been logging areas to the call-signs just as a point of interest, as I'm sure others are.
Sure has made it difficult now.

After finding time to listen for a couple of nights (slow work nights), I think you'll find as above with exceptions to:Grunter1 wrote:OK,

MG 760 Moore
MR 90x Deception Bay based Traffic for Redcliffe area
MR 92x Burpengarry based Traffic for Caboolture area
MR 93x Bikes, unknown at this stage which area
MC 811, 831 Caboolture CIB (831, maybe night wiellers)
MD890 is Caboolture doggies
MD893 is Redcliffe doggies
I've also heard MT690 , MA ?42 both at this stage unknown (? means my reception was crap at the time where I was hehe) however the later was attending a serious accident.

I suspect that it might be the start of things to come statewide - once the bugs are ironed out, that is...SteveNSWP wrote:Is this typical statewide or just something redcliffe and caboulture are doing?
Doesnt sound like sunny coast has changed, strange, since they operate out of a room next door to Cab/Red and use the same CAD system.

Re: New call signs North Coast Region
I heard MG-760 a few nights ago - He was in Harlin. Regarding a B'cast re a wanted veh from Cooyar.
Not sure if he is based out there, or was just out there working the roads.
I have a small spreadsheet going, now have over 46 call-signs, with areas referenced for jobs. Very time consuming.

Re: New call signs North Coast Region
I worked for an organization that was restructured once. When they were telling us about it, it was obvious that there were a lot of things that had not been considered and when they rolled it out, it all worked frightfully wrong. Boundaries changed again, and then again, and other things that Blind Freddy should have been able to see. Eventually they did sort it out, but it did contribute to a few nervous breakdowns along the way. It appears that the changes are going to affect their communications model quite a bit and stop gap measures will be used. Gympie comms is still handling traffic out through the South Burnett, even though The western part of the old District is now under Dalby's control. Eventually, it will all make sense. Until then, I don't think there is any right procedure and we shall just have to monitor things and see what pans out.

Re: New call signs North Coast Region
Is this a trial of a new system, the first of a roll out of a new system, or is Redcliffe/Caboulture just doing their own thing? Just to add to the confusion, the other day I heard VKR asking for an A car to take a job. I should have paid attention to the location but I didn't, but that's eaxctly how it was phrased, "VKR to an available A car for a job at ....." A crew with the callsign commencing with Mike Alpha --- (numbers I don't recall) called up on air and took the job (I also don't recall what the job was). I am assuming this was a GD's crew because I can't imagine any other units taking jobs. I am wondering if maybe stations are being given letters, just as an example MA might be Redcliffe whilst caboulture might be MB, just as an example. Whatever they are doing its pretty confusing. Hopefully for you guys who live up there and listen in often, they might find this new system too confusing and go back to the old way. I have listened to other state police, and I always liked how QPS operated their callsigns as they were easy to identify and understand who was what and where. Now I just can't keep up and don't enjoy listening in as much now.
