Hi All
Need some advice, have been out of the Motorola game for a while. Am considering purchasing a Motorola XTS3000 I found but not sure if I have the software I need. New to P25 (more familiar with TETRA).
1. Does the XTS3000 use CPS or RSS?
2. I recall the XTS3000 is "1 generation" before the XTS1500, XTS2500 and XTS5000 - any software implications I need to be aware of?
Regards
Joel

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
Thanks Phil. The xts3000 is one radio I have never touched and I'm thinking of getting one off eBay (they seem pretty damn cheap nowadays).
Another one I'm looking at with interest is the new MotoTrbo line (can't recall AZ and EMEA model numbers), the XPR7550. IP67, wideband UHF (up to 520mhz IIRC), 1000 channels.. It's like a XTS5000 with TDMA substituted for FDMA.

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
the XPR7550 is a nice radio i will give it that bonus is if you have either the XPR or DP/DM Range it uses the same CPS, i hope you enjoy the radio just note that are very few companies that use MotoTRBO in brisbane it never really took off as most Motorola Dealers push for Zeon Digital

That interesting about MotoTRBO in Brisbane.
TETRA struggles in Sydney (based on limited secondhand gossip that filters down), due to the hilly terrain and for the limited number of sites that have been rolled out (they need more for better penetration), whereas MotoTRBO is huge and is being rolled out in increasing numbers in the Sydney Metro, both conventional and trunking (Orion) and giving an alternative to Vertels trunked NXDN network.

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
After fiddling with a DP4800 for a short while I have to say it's a pretty damned interesting radio. And the wideband UHF and 1000 channels, 2/5 Selcall, MDC1200 crammed into 1 radio (I have never seen this before. Motorola always differentiates their MDC1200 and Selcall product lines based on region).
Indeed there is almost no MotoTRBO activity outside of the HAM bands (DMR-MARC) though it's an eye-opener to hear the US ham operators so clearly on UHF!
However I was silly enough not to have understood the literature well enough and purchased a DP4800 instead of the DP4801. Thought the DP4801 added GPS only. Seems I misunderstood the literature. The DP4801 adds GPS and Bluetooth to the DP4800. Damned, the GPS I didn't need but I certainly wanted the Bluetooth.

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
im sure you can buy an adapter that will allow you to add the bluetooth feature to the side of the radio you can do it with the 3600 series aswell

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
Yeah Phil, I saw one OEM and one Motirola original. The absurdity is it costs more (near 2x) than the difference between a DP4801 and DP4800, without adding the Bluetooth function.
Still, this radio has the most features I've ever seen packed into something it's size. Only thing missing is DmartZone/SmartNet/LTR (I think LTR is purchasable as an option board).

Re: Motorola Programming CPS/RSS
I hope someone can help and i do apologize if this is in the wrong spot.
I am having issues programming my DP4801 to selcall to a GP639 on an analogue network.
If it cant be done that isnt a big deal i am just unsure.
Any help would be great,
