www.brisbanescan.com use to have a complete list of QFRS UHF Frequencies with locations but the the web site is down dose any one know why ?

Hi yes my site is playing up again it seems to be a Processor Issue which i am getting fixed. alternately as all my data is on the Radio Reference Database

I am going through the list that I got from brisbanescan.com so I can Alpha tag my frequencies. But I would like to know what the tone is used for?

I can still RX on the frequency without setting the tone, will it improve the audio that I hear?

As far as scanner users are concerned, nothing.

Tones are used for a number of reasons, some of which are:-
1. To limit random interference.
2. To allow multiple non-related organisations to share a common repeater (known as a Community Repeater).
3. To allow frequencies to be re-used within the normal "frequency re-use distance".
4. The ACMA says you must.

In the case of the Emergency Services, it is used to allow the same frequency to be reused in adjacent areas.
For example:- QFRS Channel 10 in the South Eastern, and North Coast Regions, is the same frequency as Channel 40 in the South Western, and Brisbane Regions, but with a different Tone.

It is best NOT to use Tones unless you absolutely need to, as it takes a finite time for the receiver to decode a tone, which can cause you to miss the start of a transmission.

If you are getting interference across a lot of frequencies, then you have other problems, and using Tones is not the solution.
