Post by AIRMAN »

I heard this aircraft at 0610hrs 18JAN10:

Callsign "REACH 560"

Position report to BNECTR

Not very often we hear the USAF on our patch......here's a pic of this baby which can carry a massive payload:

I heard him on 121.200 from my location (Highfields). I monitor several Brisbane Centre frequencies most mornings for inbound international flights and company frequencies. I use my UBCT9 which is connected to a Mobile 1 stick I bought from DSE a few years ago. The stick sits inside the bedrooom window not outside.

Best times for internationals are early am and late night.

Here's a link for arrivals and departures for Brissy:

I listen to aircraft using the REACH callsign all the time on HF on the USAF HF global network. Most of the time they are doing telephone patches or postion reports to USAF Bases around the world. Never knew what sort of aircraft they were though! Thanks!

Been doing some "investigating" and it turns out that many aircraft using the REACH callsign are actually civillian aircraft working for the USAF under contract. Of course there are still USAF aircraft using this callsign. The majority of civillian aircraft that use this callsign appear to be mainly passenger flights that ferry US Servicemen around the world.
