Ubct9 are a very cheap version of the 780xlt with way less options. Poor Mans Scanner.....

It's got nothing to do with money at all, lol.
They have Alpha Tagging, and a large range of PC software (among lots of other things)..

Most of the software written for the UBC780XLT will also work on the UBCT8 / UBCT9, and similar scanners.Mathew wrote: . . . . and a large range of PC software . . ...
Just remember that the 780 has 500 channels, and the T8 / T9 only have 250. And most of the software defaults to using Channel 500, so on the T8 / T9 that has to be changed (by convention to Channel 100) during initial set-up.
