I was told it is able to pick up the Newcastle GRN network.?

Re: uniden UBCD396XT
Hi there,
I use my UBDC396XT all the time. During the fire period the wife doesn't mind it being on in the house. They are an excellent scanner in my opinion but the tricky bit is getting the configuration just right for your area. I have been working on my configuration again today and very happy with the coverage of the NSW RFS (fireground, GRN, Aviation). We had a large fire near Tarago recently and I knew pretty well a large portion of what was happening in the area.
Did you manage to get your configuration done for your area?
Regards
