Best scanner BCD325P2 vs BCD396XT

I was all set to buy the UBCD396XT, and then I noticed that in America they just released the BCD325P2.
It seems like, as far as I can tell, unless you are in the US one should stay away from the BCD436HP, because it is centralised around updating US frequencies from radio reference.com, and updating for Aussies would be painful (not supporting freescan etc).
But I've seen reports that the new BCD325P2 works with freescan beta, it supports Phase 2 trunk (whatever that is, I'm new to scanning, but I believe this is starting to be used in Australia), and it uses USB rather than the annoying serial cable. In other words, it mostly seems like an upgrade.
Do others concur that the BCD325P2 is the best bet now rather than the UBCD396XT?
