Interesting never seen a district like that...where each callsign is assigned to a specific vehicle!

I've heard BU 911 down as far as Redcliffe/Caboolture on an operation.

Thanks for that! Im in Bundy and have been wondering what the various call signs meant.

I suspected that they were assigned to the vehicles here because I have heard a change of officers mid way through a shift and the call sign remained the same.

Thanks Stretch, I knew NSW had vehicle assignments, its only logical that a car should be numbered, not a person. A high ranking officer isnt likely to be driving a general duties car or paddy wagon (except maybe in an extreme emergency) .

I believe the Victoria Police were the first to use it in Australasia, and everyone copied it from them.

The NSWPF are 'johnny come lately' in that respect, even Queensland was using it long before it was adopted in NSW.

How the heck do you obtain such valuable information>?? Im in Bundy and have been hearing these callsigns for a week now and was wondering.........

I knew MB... was maryborough units in the area but wasnt sure why/what etc.

I also hear alot on the local freq's transmission from VKR radio room when a unit is calling another unit, and they say things like "they are on digital chanel XYZ".

Hmmm sounds like bundy is using that digital analouge system that I was told about ages ago...since they are saying things about digital.

Yeah, They talk about "xyz are on digital chanel --" and I cant hear their transmissions form the VKR or the unit/s on my UBC120XLT (with 200ch mod).

I have also noticed that if something is serious or of a private nature they request a call on the mobile. GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I heard an accidental drug bust a little while ago when police were responding to a domestic and they gave extremely basic details over the analogue and requested VKR call on mobile.

Can anyone at Bundaberg get Maryborough, if so are they using Mike Bravo 400s for GD callsigns?

I cant get maryborough from bundy but from time to time we do get Maryborough units on duty in Bundy. They use the Mike Bravo prefix.

Have Bundaberg changed yet? I know they have been using Prefix's for the longest in North Coast Region but they still use their all callsigns. Anyone up that way noticed if they have changed to beats using BU800s and Vans using BU300s General Duties using BU400s etc...

From the look of the latest list it was in February 2009, and I know a lot has changed since then Redcliffe and Caboolture only just got there new callsigns around that time.
