someone please help me find seymour cfa frequencys

Post by vkcpolice »

fire season is coming up in my district and for some reason everytime i try and listen to our cfa control channel 162.2875mhz everyone just sounds all mumbled and scattered and the reception just fades in and out. i know this is not a problem with my antenna's or radio's. i dont understand how when im in melb i can hear all of the seymour area clear as a bell but in seymour all i get is this mumbled scatter. same with the ses in melb i can hear them on smr but in seymour all i get is ambo's can someone please help me due to i rely heavily on my scanner during fire season to keep my neighborhood safe and informed of any dangers.
there are rumours going round that the rural cfa has gone digital i find this to be a big myth considering i am hearing them in melb on a conventional scanner and in seymour all i hear is mumbled voices if they were digital id hear nothing at all. if anyone can help or knows freqeuncys for the ses and cfa in seymour please reply on this forum or email me at vkcpolice@hotmail.com cheers :?:

CFA Management obviously thinks otherwise.

They all have digital/analogue radios, which are currently operating in analogue mode.

Not sure what channel is normally used in seymour, but I can give you some others to try...

I found this website http://home.vicnet.net.au/~rhfb/frequencies.html might be worth a look.
162.2875 is ch85. Maybe try some of the others.

Note that if you're using a scanner you should use the RX (receive) frequencies...

The CFA don't currently use analog scrambling, the only thing I could think of which would have caused you issues is maybe you had some interference on your cable (electrical noise, etc) or you where slightly out on the frequency. I have a Simoco SRM9000 programmed with all of the CFA frequencies in it sitting on my office desk with a plain old 4ft antenna inside a concrete building and I get perfect signal without any issues.

problem fixed now that we have p25 now that the analogue signal is being rebroadcast on. still to this day the analouge frequency is unreadable and i hear other scanner users and even cfa personal complain about it so i know its not my end.

It could have been "deafening" your rx as he was so close , coukd be intermod from another freq or service .. grab a recording and post it up
I for one prefer the use of a commercial rx only radio for these bands .. bit harder to do that with p25 though
