Man trapped in flood at Boodua (between Oakey & Highfields)

Post by jrd »

Been listening to a few calls around Toowoomba in the last half hour.

Sounds like man clinging to a tree near Boodua trying to stay out of the water. QFRS, QPS, QAS in attendance.

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&sour ... 15398&z=13

314A, 317A originally in attendence. 311L arrived around 12:30AM after responding to another call with 312A.

00:31 - Boodua Control: 1K9MA clinging to a tree

00:33 - Specialty crews will be in the water shortly after formulating a plan. ... Can't see the car -- it's gone.

00:36 - 1 level 1 swift water rescue firefighter in water...

00:43 - Currently set up and starting to make access to MA, approx 40m from shore

00:45 - WT1 K8

00:47 - Made contact with MA. Currently on way back to water's edge.

00:47 - 1MA Back on dry land. Currently in hands of QAS. STOP

Apologies for the spotty transcript. It's my first post. Long time reader, first time poster.

Welcome, not bad for your first time.

WT1 - Whisky Tango 1. He's a senior officer for South West Region. Anyone with W?? (the first ? is another letter and the second is a number) is a south West Senior Officer.

For South East it's EA1 (Example), Brisbane it's BO11 etc etc

Man trapped in flood at Boodua (between Oakey & Highfields)

Post by Phantom »

Another car was washed off the road at Clifton today. Was a female driver.

322A and QPS recovered the woman safely. I believe the car is still in the water

Some people will not learn...

Some how I feel this thread will only keep growing regarding swift water rescues over the coming days

Specifically, "Three people have died this month trying to cross flooded waterways, and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has recorded 14 swift water rescues since mid-December."
