Those dipoles look interesting,

What is the total cost for you to make one of these?

They are tuned for UHF about 477MHz correct?

Cheers,

Nice setup!

Just one small thing, some of your coaxial feeders need to be taped to the mast to prevent movement at the antenna connector. Wind 'n weather over the years makes small movements and eventually loose connections. Black insulation tape every metre or less will stabilize.

Be careful up on the roof mate.

yeh i only recently chucked the top dipole up hence the coax being loose, all the other antenna coax are securely tied down with zip ties, going to work on it and put more antennas onto the j pole so will retie all cords together

Yeah I want to replace the GME in my car with the 500SX. I have had a few issues with the GME since installing it., but have never had any issues with Unidens contrary to popular beleif.

Have you guys ever tryed Vertex gear. I must say that Vertex make the standard GME,UNIDEN look pretty cheap.
They would outbuild those radios in quality by massive amounts.

Yaesu / Vertex have always made a decent and durable radio I have used one and they are great. Some of their gear is fairly expensive but for VHF/UHF stuff its not too bad.

Yaesu (amateur radio) Vertex (land mobile/aircraft) are in another league compared to Uniden or GME.
Their build quality (Japenese) has been unequaled, they are up there with Icom , Kenwood, Grundig etc etc

IMO if you can grab a Vertex/Yaesu you wont be disapointed, all my ham radio gear was Yaesu

Yeah the Yaesu stuff is great, the FT-897D is a nice solid bit of Amateur gear, had a play with one on the weekend.
Looking at getting one myself in the next few months after I go for my F call this weekend.

I can recommend vertex radios to anyone. I run a Vertex commercial radio in my work car, It does have a pretty fast scan feature and 128 channels, you can not go wrong for a decent UHF/SCANNER. Also run vertex handhelds which come standard with 128channels and built in encryption. Both are only $380 each. I would rate them up there with the icoms I run. GME/UNIDEN are only cheap toys compared to the rest.

I love seeing metal in the sky :-)
I did notice that the Matchmaster TV antenna is mounted upside down though.....
Water will sit in the plastic brackets that hold the elements in place, eventually the rivets there will rust *faster*.

Sorry to be a spoil-sport!

What hardware did you use to mount that stuff horizontally? And where can you buy it?
