Scanner not working properly in the US

Hi new to this forum, I was wondering if any one could help. I have a Uniden UBCD396XT that works well on air freqs in aus but when I went to the US last year I loaded in the correct freqs but I could hardly hear with lots of static on all the channels. Thanks in advance

Airband should be the same world wide as planes move around a lot

Did you try to listen to anything other than the airband?

Check when you loaded your airband freq that you had them set to AM mode. If the audio mode was set to FM or WFM you would hear audio but it would be distorted or just static.

Agreed, airband is the same no matter where you are, so the only other alternative is the mode was selected incorrectly.

Thanks I was using Free scan and it was in auto so i will try putting it in to AM mod and hope this helps. any suggestions for better software for my scanner ???

i use pro scan but everyone to their own i guess
