Re: Australian Traffic Network Radio Station Traffic Reports
ok just so we know. the ATN (Australian Traffic Network) are currently using the Motorola Smartnet System that runs off Mt Coot-Tha and is also simulcast to Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Towers also.

Re: Australian Traffic Network Radio Station Traffic Reports
According to the ACMA Database, there is no such frequency as 869.5200. The closest would be 869.5125 or 869.5375.
In Motorola speak, simulcast means transmitting on the SAME frequency from multiple Sites.
868.0125 is only on Mt Coot-tha, with 865.2625 and 869.5125 on Mt Coot-tha and the Peninsula Building on the Gold Coast. There is no sign of any of these frequencies on the Sunshine Coast.

Re: Australian Traffic Network Radio Station Traffic Reports
I didn't write down the frequencies but I got 2 of these piping in yesterday afternoon during peak-hour, and they obviously use one of them for communications from the traffic helicopter to the ground. I took some audio of that. Nothing today though, and one these channels (868.0125) now seems to have developed a high pitch squeel which wasn't there before.

Re: Australian Traffic Network Radio Station Traffic Reports
868.0125 is the frequency they use for the Brisbane Australian Radio Network reports (97.3 and 4KQ). If you tune in at the same time on your scanner - you can usually pick up the exact same audio report going out on-air. The stations can also communicate to the reporters, as I've noticed.
I think they trunk the frequency regularly, as I get a birdee on that most of the time (usually during non-peak hours).
