Re: Taxi Companies Horsley Park
There are several taxi companies that cover the area
Normally there is a mdt data channel (which is where most Point A-Point B jobs are broadcast on the screen) and an analog voice channel where you hear the dispatcher occasionally instruct and correct the driver when the taxi job hasnt gone to plan
Here are the Horsley Park site information for four of the major companies.
Sydney Taxis
Mdt data 505.1250
Voice 505.4250
Premier Taxis
Mdt data 472.9625
Voice 474.2375
Legion
Mdt data 462.5625
Voice 462.7250
Taxi Combined / Combined communications network
MDT data 501.925 and 501.975
This is not exhaustive - eg: i have heard a lot of Taxis on Mpt1327 both UHF and VHF. But difficult to work who is who

Re: Taxi Companies Horsley Park
BTW why cant I hear the drivers? I will occasionally hear the driver but other than that I can only hear control. Is it because its a simplex channel?

Re: Taxi Companies Horsley Park
It is known as two frequency simplex. That is one frequency transmits from the base to the cars and other from the cars to the base. It is not a repeater in the true sense of the word. That stops drivers talking amongst themselves, harassing other drivers and drivers hearing each other. The controller maintains full control of the channel. You can hear some drivers occasionally because the controller has the channel open and the audio is being picked up by their microphone. It is normal for larger taxi networks to do it this way. Not all mind you.RadioKid wrote:BTW why cant I hear the drivers? I will occasionally hear the driver but other than that I can only hear control. Is it because its a simplex channel?

Ok thanks railscan, that explains a bit.
Do you know the driver to base frequencies for the companies above?

For the 500 MHz add 10 MHz. For the 470 MHz add 5.2 MHz and for the 460 MHz minus 10 MHz.RadioKid wrote:Ok thanks railscan, that explains a bit.

Hey guys
I've been trying to crack this for years just for shots and giggles :$
The voice freqs work fine but I can't hear the driver to base Channel as described above
I've removed or added the number of MHz without luck
Can someone steer me into the right direction? Would love to hear both sides of the convo if at all possible

Ive had the same problem. Maybe try the ACMA database and check the base RX frequency?Torquative wrote:Hey guys

Re: Taxi Companies Horsley Park
To a point this is a futile practise. The bases are on high points transmitting 50 watts, therefore as you would expect they radiate far and wide. The vehicles are all over the place geographically and are transmitting 25 watts. Accordingly unless a vehicle is nearby to your antenna, or on a high spot, you are not going to hear it or if you can the transmission maybe broken.Torquative wrote:Hey guys
