About time.
You'd think all VicPol cars would have been issued MDT's by now. Yes, it *might* be expensive to push them all out at once, but AT LEAST they're there, it's not like a continuous payment situation.
If they performed a cost benefit analysis, they would have realised that, by installing them all at the start, they would have saved so a tonne of resources in the future (e.g by reducing manual vehicle license and registration checks, huge time saving, and so forth).

Ballarat police have received upgraded technology to combat traffic crime, with new mobile data terminals delivered this week.
The terminals allow officers to instantly access information on a driver or a vehicle when out on the road, reducing the need for third parties to assist roadside police members access information.
Ballarat Highway Patrol sergeant Stuart Gale said a key factor of the upgraded technology was the ability to access VicRoads information and bring up a picture of a drivers licence.

In itself, No. The introduction of Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) just means there will be less "vehicle checks, etc'' on the Voice Channels.wombat tow wrote:so does this mean that the country cops are going digital soon like their city mates???
However, there have been reports of VicPol carrying out trials of P25 on some of their country VHF frequencies, and thats another story.
