Selcall
Hi
We are moving over to Queensland next year at some stage and I want to set up Selcall to work over there for Fire Service I have it working here for the NZ Fire Service. I have sent a link I hope someone might be doing the same thing over there who could help me. http://www.angelfire.com/super2/radio/s ... index.html and http://www.comms.net.nz/ Any help would be great.
Thanks
Scott

Re: Selcall
Hi Scott,
I'm curious why you need to do this ? Is it a way to identify units calling over in NZ ?
Cheers Shane

Re: Selcall
Hey Shane, it is, each unit has its own selcall as well as tones for unit responses.
Instead of calling a code 5 here, they just press a button on the console in the truck & NZ Fire gets the message.
Thats it in a nutshell, though I am doing this on memory, but you get the drift

QFRS uses ANI (Automatic Number Identification) for appliance identification, but they don't use Tones.

Re: Selcall
Full time paid stations dont have pagers, some head honchos do, most if not all volunteer station do... all they get is a turnout message over their PA systems and go from there, if they are (k4 NZ code) then fire com will say, 502a firecall, and then they will respond 'go ahead' and the firecall message is passed
Hope that helps a little

Re: Selcall
The 996XT is not currently for sale here in Australia - only the 396XT
If you are wanting a 996XT - try eBay or some US Stores.
For a listing of what is for sale in Australia by Uniden - why not check their website

To elaborate on orangepeel's post.
While Uniden Australia saw fit to release an Australianised/New Zealandised version of the 396XT (the UBCD396XT), such is not the case with the 996XT. If you want to have a Desktop/Mobile you have to make do with the American BCD996XT.
Some Australian dealers are importing the BCD996XT, but check around for prices, as there can be quite a significent difference between dealers.
