Police charged a man after investigations into a house fire on Moggill Road last night.

Emergency services were called around 11pm after reports that a fire had allegedly started beneath a home. The fire was extinguished but it caused extensive damage to the building.

The owners of the house were not at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Investigations reveal that a nearby car was allegedly stolen after the keys were allegedly taken from a house. The car was located after it crashed a short distance away and the alleged driver decamped on foot.

Police pursued the man and later charged a 19-year-old Indooroopilly man with arson, burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Saw this on the news last night.... Definition of stupid: guy sets house on fire, flees in stolen car only to crash it into a yard a short distance away, then the owner of the yard he crashed into chases him and he runs and hides in a nearby garden which...... Is the garden of a police station! Police come out and question him and add it all up and arrest him.
