Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
forgot to add, i reset my unit last night. I mean a FULL reset.
so that eliminates another possibility IF its still doing the same.

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
Not really. Whereas Australia has used 12.5 kHz / 25 kHz channel spacing since at least 1991, America has many bands that still use 15 kHz / 20 kHz channel spacing, and that influences what defaults are used.rredbeak wrote:As for similar brands [LOL] its very odd OTHER than the Ph Band and thats clear in different countries BUT programming and defaults being different is hard to understand.

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
so importing isnt a good idea unless you get a quality unit that uncludes the differences. But theyre expensive..

If you are going to import, you really need to know ALL the differences between the imported model, and the local equivalent, and decide if the imported unit is really going to meet your needs.rredbeak wrote:so importing isnt a good idea unless you get a quality unit that uncludes the differences. There are other things to look for besides the missing Meg in the 800 MHz Band, such as America does not have the 70 to 85 MHz Band, and the channeling in their 156 to 174 MHz Band doesn't fully match ours.

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
i bought these dtr96's on dse sale.. $100 for one then $75 for the last in their stock.
Theyre great units but i see now theyre very limited irrespective of designed for OZ.
The Channel steps are factory set and not variable.THATS the annoying bit for me personally.
turn the clock back id be better off to buy their last 2 ubcd396's [they had 3 on the shelf]
Ive NOT seen the 396 specs but im pretty sure the steps are user variable if i so choose.
Re the DTR96 400MHz trunking im willing to BET that its factory programmed to only trunk VHF 400 MHz - 420 MHZ or so.
Its accepting the 463 base but resorts to factory default.. I BET ya lol
But wait till i try both 96's side by side.
I DID a Complete reset last night then cloned it all back,SO ,if my programming is wrong ive just cloned the error BACK
see what happens next trip to the APT

You might have "hit the nail on the head", but it would be hard to prove.rredbeak wrote:Re the DTR96 400MHz trunking im willing to BET that its factory programmed to only trunk VHF 400 MHz - 420 MHZ or so.

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
Success,,,
Ok i recorded a short clip of what the radio was doing..
Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnOYqRlWd5g ..there was NO audio from the scanner. The camera was recording properly
Then i got jack of it and started changing things. Turns out its in the 3600 Baud setting SHOULD be "Table" not "normal" as i put in.
I changed it back n forth twice and its a confirmed win...
Cheers Rod

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
TY BG,
I dont even know where to start to understand what i did. I get like that just start changing things, often with no success.
But it works and thats all i was seeking LOL.
When i hit "Table" i THOUGHT it would ask me for a complex table equation and the book was at home LOL.
Anyway,i hope others might benefit also and a great big TY To Comnit who stuck in there.
Cheers Rod

They consider the Base / Step / Offset to be a Table entry, or Multi-Table entry in the case of the NSWGRN / SAGRN systems, although the Manual is not very clear on that.

Re: 400MHz Trunking issues
Im a HF CB freak ,SKIP really rings my bells.YUM.
ANYTHING Higher than 30 MHz i have virtually NIL interrest and NO knowledge of. The ONLY exception is Scanning and i LOVE it but i still dont understand anything more than single freq programming like before trunking ,i just use it and enjoy.
So with things like Baud and Offsets [Trunking i mean] etc is like hitting a brick wall trying to ask questions without sounding like a complete idiot...
But if its helped someone else as well as me then sounding dumb was worth it.
Cheers and TY Comint for being there..
