Re: NEW GME TX3100 UHF CB
I am somewhat surprised that the extra channels are dealer programmable receive only, if they made the extra 20 channels dealer programmable TX/RX then it would be good for the upcoming 60 channel allocation (if it's still continuing). In any case, interesting design...

Good point, I didn't notice that. Seems very odd to have RX only, and a little disappointingIntuition wrote:I am somewhat surprised that the extra channels are dealer programmable receive only, if they made the extra 20 channels dealer programmable TX/RX then it would be good for the upcoming 60 channel allocation (if it's still continuing). Re: NEW GME TX3100 UHF CB
Keep in mind they have probably been designing this radio for a while now, probably before the announcement about the extra channels was made. Plus, this hasn't even been confirmed yet. Also, if they were TX and RX, what's to stop someone asking for the Emergency Services input frequencies and screwing around on the channels?Intuition wrote:I am somewhat surprised that the extra channels are dealer programmable receive only, if they made the extra 20 channels dealer programmable TX/RX then it would be good for the upcoming 60 channel allocation (if it's still continuing). Re: NEW GME TX3100 UHF CB
Hey just an update
The rumour I have heard from a source at GME is these units are already setup for the new acma system, however to activate the addition channels it would need to go back for a firmware update. Unknown if charge will be involved, however this may also be in correct as I have been caught out before

Re: NEW GME TX3100 UHF CB
they are a great unit. i can personally vouch for them as i have one installed in my car. the only issue is that there are no spares at this stage as they are still rather new. easy to use, easy to hear and i have used the flip only twice. when i was trying to think about where i was gonna mount it. got a pic of my set up on my pc but never seem to add it to the net yet.
