VicPol RIDs

Post by griffonboi »

Hey guys,

I am just curious, is there a way to tell apart the police's portables from the vehicle mobiles, or even the station radios just by their UIDs?

Lots of new 3167xxx, 3168xxx and 3169xxx UIDs just recently came online. Wonder what those are

At a stab I’d say aligning to other states radio networks - QLD has a 7 digit RID and I think NSW does also

What Kazzaw said.

VIC are slowly transitioning from the remaining legacy radios with a 5 digit RID to new radios with a 7 digit RID allocation.

Unsure how to determine if base, mobile or portable, only whether a unit is metro or regional.

NSW still use 6 x Digit RID's on their legacy P25 conventional voting network.
The very few on the PSN (GRN) use either their legacy 6 x Digit or their new 7 x Digit RID allocation.

Apart from AFP, the new designated 7 x Digit RID allocation aligns to most states RID numbering already in place.

Yeah I've seen their RIDs start with 4 for QLD and 2 for NSW, 3 being VIC of course. During the recent floods I did hear a POLAIR come up calling portable on one of the multi agency groups, with a 316xxxx iD
