Mate I can assure you that the coverage area for the CQ Area Command is that large and rural that they are certainly going to be on analogue still, same as the entire wide bay region are still (Bundy, Maryborough, gympie etc) because when they trialled it in these areas they had major TX and RX issues due to poor digital coverage and the smaller rural stations are usually working from remote locations.
You have to take a GOOD LOOK at the new frequency allocation register, trust me it's definitely there!~
What I did was search ALL QPS freq's, put them into an excel spreadsheet and then reprogrammed my scanner, let it run until I identified the local frequencies.
Remember, they are now using ipads for the more sensitive comms..... Even with the combining of gympie, maryborough and bundaberg into one call area there is heaps less radio traffic these days than there was even earlier this year!
Try this link. Make sure the distance is at least 25 kilometres, if not more. As has been said previously, they are using i-Pads a lot and mobile phones for more sensitive stuff, and from my experience, even non sensitive stuff. I hear less from a combined Gympie,Maryborough and Bundaberg now than I heard from Gympie about 12 months ago.
Just had a short holiday up in the Fraser Coast Area, was surprised to hear the QPS above the old 64/128 channel allocated band.
Currently at my place (NW Brisbane) I can hear 469.900 and BM cars for Maryborough coming in nicely. I missed the first post of this thread having been updated some time ago, so had to spend many hours hunting, sure was surprised that they use quite a few freqs between Maryborough and Gympie.
Have done a few trips from Bris to Western and Nth Qld, and back around the 'loop' found lots of traffic outside the original channel allocation. Have programmed quite a few into my UHF CB... Very handy.
Driving along the ridge up here I can hear Toowoomba to WD and other units out on the 'Downs'.

Hope you are all keeping well in the Land of Oz.
Does anybody have an updated list of frequencies for the Far North, Townsville, Mackay, Capricornia and Wide Bay Burnett districts? These haven't been updated on here for some time and would be useful for listening to the Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton and Bundaberg live streams on Radioreference. I understand these will be in the new 198 channel HGS band between 467.5125MHz and 469.9750MHz.
If you search 467.5125 (Channel 1) to 469.9875 (Channel 199). There's actually only 198 channels but the SES have a licences on Bellenden Kerr which would make 199.
You'll get Police, Fire and SES for Cairns, Port Douglas and the Tablelands and if you're coastal enough with a good antenna you might even get Innisfail on this also. I have a list running which is a bit of a work in progress but I know the following.
Police are 107.2 CTCSS
Fire are 167.9 CTCSS
SES I have heard NOTHING at all
So far from what I hear Police have every second channel allocated, Fire and SES have every Fourth channel allocated (Between the Police channels).
There are a couple of P25 Digital channels in there but so far all encrypted.
There are a number of channels in there that don't appear on the ACMA database but are definitely live.
If you put the QPS link channels in (This will be dependant on your antenna and a good direct line of site shot to a tower) you could get traffic all the way to Thursday Island.
404.975 / 414.425 CTCSS 186.2 I heard the Mackay Channel rebroadcast on this for a while when the fires were on. Would have been a ROIP console patch for sure.
404.55 / 414.0 Links onto the Tablands channel from Yarrabah carries Tablelands and sometimes Bamaga traffic on it. You may only hear one end of the conversation depending on the multi-select / patch in place.
There's a bunch of others but haven't heard traffic yet.
Also in other Cairns traffic if you're interested in stuff outside the cops there is a fair amount of DMR at the Airport and Elsewhere (Sunbus is on DMR as of about 2 months ago)
Ambos are still on their 70 MHz allocations but also have UHF Links all the way to the tip. Essentially one City and One Rural channel.
Surf Life Saving is NXDN Digital (Including the Backpacker S.T.I. Lagoon downtown in the CBD)
Quite a bit of Security around
Lots of Transport Busses, Limo's etc. Though none at the moment of course.
Skyrail has some analogue and some digital channels
Quite a bit at the airport, though the AFP and Airport fire are digital and encrypted.
There is a bit of Marine traffic also.
I believe the Convention Centre is DMR Digital and I have decoded DMR at the Casino also (Once)
Fire Brigade Turnout channels (Only heard something once) Appear to be 461.75625 and possibly 466.26875. These are set off by a Zetron console (I haven't bothered to try and decode yet) and then have a voice afterwards (A little like on the Emergency Show years ago).
Ergon has a Digital Trunk system which is encrypted so no need to bother.
I've heard nothing but water telemetry on any Council channels
Mulgrave Mill has a Mid band system (As does Mossman Mill which you might be able to get if you're lucky).
There is little rail traffic. Just some shunting down the South end of town and Some Kuranda rail traffic when the tourists come back.
Most of the shopping centres have their own channels. I believe you're on the Beaches. You could try Smithfield on 485.3 but I'm pretty sure it is DMR.
There's plenty of others. Hotels, Clubs, Couriers, Busses, Taxis, Sugar Mills, Rental Car Companies, Crane and Construction companies, National Parks, Machans Beach Holdings (Have not heard anything on this), Schools, Aquarium, and the list goes on.
Have a look at maprad.io will give you a map to locate around yourself also.
What I had in mind was someone with a scanner in those districts identifying the use for each frequency eg enquiries channels, special ops channels etc.
This would be similar to the first post in this thread by rooster which hasn't been updated since November 2017 which was before Mackay, Far North and Townsville districts went on to the HGS band.
