HI all,
I have recently ordered a 396XT, and having not had a scanner for around 10 years, I am looking forward to getting it up and running. I am based on the sunny Northside of Brisbane, but tend to get around QLD fairly regularly. My last scanner was a Uniden also, although it sounds like the 396 will be somewhat more complicated (though I doubt that it will pick up mobile phones like I was able to do in NZ back in the day....)

Is there a list - all in one place - of the frequencies etc currently in use in Brisbane, or am I best to run through the other postings in this forum and input those into the scanner? I am interested in emergency services, air traffic, police etc.

I think that scanner has a pre-programmed 'Service' search. It will scan the police and airbands etc.
All you have to do is set the scanner to automatically save new channels it finds.
That would give you a good head start.

I doubt you will pick up any QPS where you are as its all encrypted around there I am pretty sure. But for QFRS, QAS other things it will work fine.

Have a look in the subforums "Queensland --> "Emergency Services" --> pick your service and the first few topics etc should contain most of the information you will need frequency wise or you can always give us a yell :)

Welcome to the forums
Cheers Shane

Not too sure that we should resort to violence Phil, but I would certainly appreciate any list of data that you can put together.
