Caboolture/Redcliffe Observations

Post by Kwala »

Hi Guys

I listen to the Caboolture/Redcliffe VKR regularly and noticed a few things in the last few days…

- I’ve noticed that VKR regularly call (phone) units with information on jobs a lot more than they used to; not sure if it’s because of sensitive info and/or the increase in scanning apps etc
- Heard the callsign Charlie 822 this morning. Any ideas on that one? Have also heard Charlie 963 which I think is a traffic branch located at Burpengary.
- There’s been a few interesting Category 2 pursuits recently! Also some excellent tracking by the dog squad.
- Any callsigns for the Highway Patrol cars?

from what i have heard 900's are the Traffic Units not sure about 963 tho it could be a Motorbike Unit but i am not sure. as for the phoning you are correct they will phone the unit if it is something say if it has something to do with a known scanner user.

All 900 call signs are traffic branch, although general duties are also assigned traffic duties. 200 call signs are assigned to station cars and 400 call signs are assigned to cars patrolling an area or district. The numbers may be assigned to a specific vehicle, particularly in smaller areas but in larger areas, they are often assigned as needed. Phones are used for more sensitive info, not just involving known scanner users.
