Citylink Vans
Citylink Vans. had the embarrassment of needing the assistance of one last Saturday night when. Being new to the area and not familiar with the City Rd exit before the Tunnel, And fuel tankers not allowed through there. I missed the City Rd exit....... DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!. pulled up at the start of the tunnel and within 5 minutes had ol mate with a zillion flashing strobes behind my truck. they just reversed me up an EMS access ramp onto Powers St
The operator was just using a mobile phone, But I suspect they would also have two way comms
anyone got a link for them???

Always wondered about those frequencies.meggala wrote:501.725 is the only frequency I get them on you have to be close and moduation is weak
The ACMA Database only shows a Transmitter, on that frequency, at 500 Bourke St, with Receivers at 42 Sites around the State. The normal 'split' in that Band is 10 MHz, and each of those Sites has a Transmitter on 511.725 MHz.
Doubtful it is actually a Trunked Radio System, even though it is licensed to Motorola Solutions.

Re: Citylink Vans
Hi Mat,
Are you sure they still have the radios in their vehicles? Last time I checked they were actually in their Control Rooms only now.
Citylink, Eastlink, VicRoads each have a radio in their respective Control Rooms and if required usually relay info from VicPol to their own units via their own systems.
If you hear Citylink900, VicRoads900 etc that means it's their Control Room.

I'm informed they (Citylink) may be getting access to an MFB radio in their Control Room at some point.

that wouldnt be such a bad idea pumper, at least it will be direct contact not like going via ph and waiting to be connected to the mfb

Re: Citylink Vans
I think they'll still have to go via phone first and then use the radio for agency to agency comms at an event or to direct MFB resources to an event.
Not sure what will happen yet, like I said it's only talk at this stage.

Re: Citylink Vans
Regarding the CityLink radio network it is in fact a trunked radio network, very low power, focused specifically along CityLink itself using directional units in open air and leaky coax in the tunnels.
