i was a member of a NSWRFS brigade until about 6 years ago so i still remember a fair bit about them.
The brigade i was in got their last new truck in 2001 (before I left in 2004).

i wont bore you with the usual details but there are diferent types of Category 1's.
they all have a decent gaam pump (up to 1100 litres a minute)with a 3 cylinder hatz diesel
closed pump pressure is up to 1400kpa
the best part is that they have a large enclosure between the driver and officer with the radio's and light switches etc, but they can start the pump from the cab, control the throttle. its even got a tacho for the pump in the cab.
there are 2 valves on the floor infront of this box. 1 operates the cabin protection sprays and the other one operates sprays to protect the tyres. The grassland specific Cat's have grassland firefighting spray bars which can be controlled by the driver
Electric rotary vain primer. a portable pump is located on the near side underneath the tray. 2 drums of BFFF 1 drum of AFFF.

At least in the pictures here they have finaly added electric rewind hose reels!
