QFRS Fireground Channels

Gday all,

i am curious do the QFRS use the same CTCSS on the Fireground Repeater as the Fireground Simplex

Why would they have a fireground repeater?

Typically we are talking about communication over a relatively short distance.

One would think for larger areas where a repeater (portable i guess) then the qfrs ctcss tones would stay in the same order as used on the fixed repeaters.

I'm just having a guess here - but that is what I would think...

For events such as Indy/Super GP/whatever they're calling it this year. Firegound 2, 4, 6 and 8 are are repeaters and there is a Fireground Channel 6 and 8 on top of Condor Apartments down here on the coast that gets used for Schoolies, Indy etc

I wont be able to test it until atleast Indy (as the repeaters don't really get used). Will one be set up for RIverfire?? If so, some one could grab it then.

not to sure i know for a fact that the SES will be using there Digital network however there analogue Ch12 is a backup if required. as for QFRS will be interesting to see what they use

dont know if they use rpt. but i here them on firecom usually a pump a story bridge and another at kangaroo point, will find out saturday night

Except the Fireground Channels are basically available throughout the State, whereas the Fixed Repeaters are "restricted" to specific Regions.

That is:-
Channels 10 to 39 - South Eastern, North Coast, and Northern Regions

Channels 40 to 69 - South Western, Brisbane Metro, Far northern, and Central Regions.

Channels 10 to 39 have one CTCSS tone, and Channels 40 to 69 are the same frequencies, but with a different CTCSS tone.

Other areas for Fireground Repeaters, is large fires in Industrial Estates - where appliances need to attack the fire on multiple fronts, or major Bushfires in hilly country (thick smoke from burning tyres, or bushfires, has a tendency to hinder UHF propagation). Some years ago, there was a major bushfire along the Range escarpment at Toowoomba, which stretched from North of Toowoomba, to the Southern suburbs, a distance of over 10 km, with numerous houses threatened. I don't know if a Portable Repeater was used, but I doubt the normal Repeaters would have provided satisfactory coverage into some of the areas involved.

Does anyone have the list of freq's for all North Coast Fireground Channels?

I know they dont transmit over a large distance but would be handy to have logged in the scanner.

I would only assume that the fireground channels would be the same statewide as they are local.

OP you have assumed correctly. the Fireground Channel used by the QFRS are Statewide

recently i was told that the simplex fireground channel for qfrs chanels 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc work in pairs where the first chanels used are the odd numbers and if u need greater distances they then use the even number above the odd number in a truck to create a portable repeater in a sense. not wuite sure how it work will have to talk to the it guy again and learn more about it

In some ways, your post makes no sense at all.

The EVEN Channel numbers (2, 4, 6, and 8 ) are Repeaters (with an Input Frequency, and an Output Frequency, 9.5 MHz apart)

The ODD Channel numbers (1, 3, 5, and 7) are Simplex (Transmit and Receive on the same frequency), and use the associated Repeater Output Frequency, so the "Pairing" is:-

Ch 1 is Simplex and Ch 2 is the associated Repeater

Ch 3 is Simplex and Ch 4 is the associated Repeater

Ch 5 is Simplex and Ch 6 is the associated Repeater

Ch 7 is Simplex and Ch 8 is the associated Repeater

Channel 9 Simplex is a Special Case.

I imagine at least some of the Command Vehicles carry, or are fitted with, Portable Repeaters, for use at large Incidents.

yeah comint i know it makes not much sense thats why ive got to talk to the guy about it more cause i couldnt quite understand how it would work with out having a repeater like in the comand vehicles
