Trauma Poss Dangerous Area

I often see that on pager messages. What exactly does it mean???

It means the Pt has a traumatic injury and it could possibly life threatening
ie Cut across the inner thigh.....might have hit an artery
cut in head...

these types of injuries

And the poss dangerous area is that indicating its in a serious spot on the patient??? Not dangerous area where the patient is located.

Cheers Doug, always thought it meant dangerous location but then I got one for a job at the preschool and I'm like nah it can't mean that.

actually its classed into three categories:

dangerous eg. neck head(not alert) chest (with dyspnoea)

possibly dangerous eg. torso without dyspnoea head upper limbs groin back etc

non dangerous eg. fingers/toes lower limbs forearms etc..
