LIVE FEED - Section 44 Bushfire - Tweed Coast NSW

Post by geoffro316 »

Just letting you all know that I've now finished broadcasting the Schoolies feed, and am now broadcasting the Section 44 bushfire feed!

A large bushfire that started a couple of days ago on the NSW Tweed Coast has just been upgraded to a "Section 44". There are numerous air attack and observation aircraft, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Fire Brigades units on scene. I have set the feed up to stream the NSW Rural Fire Service Ch 87 (419.400) on the left speaker and NSW Fire Brigades Ch 802 (419.150) on the right speaker.

I'll return to normal broadcasting when this incident is over...

:)
Cheers

Forgot to mention I'm also scanning the Rural Fire Service fireground channel and the air to air chat channel for the water bombers

This is good. Thanks alot geoffro! I've been listening to this after work this morning. Feeling a bit lost with the foreign codes and the colours. Nice job though.

No worries. Yeh, the colour coding is a bit different to Qld. The frequencies quiet down of a night, but are fairly busy during the day. The NSW Fire Brigades are being used for property protection and the NSW Rural Fire Service are fighting the actual fire. Theres either 4 or 6 aircraft operating in the area. They are using the air to air chat (123.450) for comms between themselves.

Have updated the feed as follows;

LEFT SPEAKER: Air Attack aircraft chit-chat (123.450 mhz)

RIGHT SPEAKER: NSW Rural Fire Service Command Channel, Ch 087 (419.150 mhz)

There are predictions that they are losing the battle so far. They indicated that if the fire reaches a place called Round Mountain they will need more aircraft (only have 3 here at the moment) and lots more ground crews. This area houses a power station as well as multiple properties. A comment that the Air Attack Supervisor made before was "if it reaches Round Mountain, we're all gone!"

Just as I was typing the Air Attack Super advised they will definitley lose "the mountain" and air attack aircraft will "have to swing into property protection mode"

This will get worse before it gets better!

6 Aircraft, Callsigns are: 254 263 272 285 505 601. I think they're either Firebirds or Helitacks (mixed).

Sounds pretty dodgy down there. Good luck to 'em.
