With my radio tuned to CB 40 and just listening the other day, it was doing some funny stuff. It would give a low beep and display the bell icon (the one used for pocket beep) and the letter F somewhat randomly when other people were transmitting.

Pocket beep should display the bell icon and the either the word "Found" or "Failed". But it was turned off anyways.

Sometimes during others transmitting (while in the error detailed above), it would play what sounded like a 6 digit selcal code (give or take a digit).

I had done some programing to it, ie a few RX channels and renaming a couple of CB channels to be descriptive (ie, EMERG and DATA).

I've just reprogrammed it with the default settings and CB only channels and am testing as we speak, looking hopeful to be fixed, but I need more people talking to confirm it.
Any ideas on what it may be? So I can avoid it in future. There's nothing listed in the user manual nor can I find any Icom forums other then Icom USA's D-Star forum which is D-Star stuff only. Plus USA doesn't have the IC-41S for sale as best as I can see.

Not too many countries have a UHF CB Band, with the USA NOT being one of them. So Yes, Icom doesn't have IC-40/IC-41s for sale in America.

Can't help with the other problem.

Well, resetting it does seem to have fixed the problem. But I'm still not sure what setting caused it.

Also, on a side topic, does anyone know what C.R.S. means?
Because the IC-41S is labeled as a "UHF C.R.S. Transceiver".

A google for CRS gives these possible results, but none of them fit.

The Citizens Band Radio Service (CBRS), in the USA, was originally called the Citizens Radio Service, so it probably stems from that. The other option, is an abbreviation of Citizens-band Radio Service, with only the Capital letters going into the abbreviation.

I might also point out, that Uniden have some radios, such as the BC370, with a CRS tag, but in their case it means Clock, Radio, Scanner.
