This sounds interesting. Is there anyone in the Toowoomba area currently decoding pagers?

I just wondered if its worth setting up. Not much point if I'm living in a PDW black hole.

Yeah. I think Orangepeel does. Both the common Pager frequencies are on Mt Kynoch.

As has been posted in another thread on these forums:-

The VHF Paging Band in Australia supposedly only covers from 148.0125 to 149.2375 MHz. However, some paging services have been heard above these frequencies, so follow brisbanescan's suggestion, and scan from 148.0125 MHz up to 150 MHz, in 25 kHz steps.

146.000 to 148.000 MHz is in the Amateur Band, so you shouldn't find any commercial paging services there.

The frequencies in the VHF Paging Band in Australia, by calculation, should always end in 5 (147.9875 + (N x (0.025)) where N is 1 to 50).

Although there is a little bit of amateur paging experimentation - the recommended frequency being 147.975MHz

Howdy folks.

Playing around with pdw tonight with my ubc92xlt and not having much luck. Plenty of gibberish.

Guess I'm going to have to mod it. :-( Need to make a few more posts though before I can download the tutorial on this thread. *shakes fist at forums*

PDW is very "fiddly" to set up. You just have to persevere.

Funnily enough, the very first message I received was PERFECT. Then I bumped the scanner on my table, must've hit a control and... sniff... it's gone.

I might have to give up for the night. I'll tackle it again tomorrow.

(might plug another radio in and use it, see if I have any more luck. Really can't be bothered getting the soldering iron out!)
