They are called by their base name and then their team number. Due to the storms, an incident command post was set up and all teams were issued new callsigns and new jobs for different areas to what their area was.

E.g:
South Team 1 (Southern Group - Team 1)
East Team 6 (Eastern Group - Team 6)

etc.

Not that I'm aware of.

IT's my belief that on an activation it's whatever team signs on first gets Southport 3 (my group).

Southport 1 is the group leader
Southport 2 is his deputy
Gold Coast 1 is a guy called Peter Linnell. He's the Gold Coast Controller
Cadet 1 is the Cadet co-ordinator for Southport.

As far as im aware of, the vehicles in Brisbane are numbered by the council, but when activated they are allocated their radio channel and callsign, which can vary every time, at my group we have a Ford Transit Bus, a Isuzu crew cab truck, a Toyota Troop Carrier and a Landcruiser.

So any one of those can be called South Team 1 - 4

I'll put it in a more organised form,

Southport (my group) has 2 4WD, 1 thunderbird, 2 boats (1's a spare), 2 utes and a mini bus. Oh and a golf buggy + trailer :)

Southport 1 and Southport 2 are always the same people.

THen it's whoever signs in first and signs out a vehicle gets the callsign.

1st Vehicle out - Southport 3
2nd Vehicle out - Southport 4.

Then for events like ANZAC day, every adult is given one and the numbers are between 3 and 15 and they just get assigned randomly.

Boat and Golf Buggy uses that person/vehicles callsign.

Indy is a totally different thing which I wont go into to at this point.

Interesting, in Logan all vehicles are named and the driver that is assigned to the vehicle is assigned the callsign

Does the above info still hold true? In other states vehicles have fixed callsigns dependent on the type of vehicle and abilities. The above looks like it would create havoc when different units have to work together on deployments.

Can't answer that. Haven't been involved with the SES for years

From what I've seen it's still similar to that above. Some groups have allocated vehicle callsigns that don't change and some groups assign callsigns to vehicles as they're activated, it seems to vary from group to group and unit to unit.
