Doing direct frequency entry I can hear nothing on 416,1375 or 416.8875 (the supposed control frequencies, but on 422 .345 it shows 'P25 NAC 201h' on the scanner panel.

500.8 will be something different. Its likely the control channel has changed. 422.345 is likely a GRN control channel

Thanks for reply. Previously the control channel had a distinctive data whine on my 396. 422.45 (note not 422.345) just has that NAC display.

You won't hear anything as its digital. The NAC is displaying that you are on the control channel.

Run a scan on the 415 to 425mhz band and you'll find all the control channels that you can pick up. Once you have your control channel programmed in you can set it on ID Search mode and you'll start getting voice.

Comms Site Gan Gan Hill:

https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/site_search ... TE_ID=6054

Not being a New South Welshman I don't know who the GRN authority is but presumably "NEW SOUTH WALES GOVERNMENT TELECOMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY", so check the "T" (transmit) frequencies in the 400MHz range.

For other sites in the area go to this link and set the fields to Find > Sites, Where > Name and enter "Gan Gan".

The mystery on 'silent' Gan Gan is solved. The control frequency given on most references, including RR) is 416.1375 but that is out of date. Ozscan's map shows another frequency of 422.450 (which the old references show incorrectly as Gosford (Mt Elliot)). The correct control frequency is confirmed for Gan Gan as now 422.450. Looking at that in direct entry shows 'P25 NAC 201h'. If that's hex, it is 513 decimal. Site number? Anyway, happily monitoring now!

From what I've seen, NSW GRN usually does a lot of control channel changes compared to the QLD GWN which I've never seen a control channel change

Apparently. And the NAC is after all 2D1 (not 201) which is Gan Gan!

NAC is Network Access Code. Basically a digital CTCSS, so you may find a number of Sites with the same NAC.

Now confirmed that site was not NAC 201h but 2D1h. Gan Gan is listed as 2D1

Since that post ages ago (!) I have discovered that the Gan Gan control channel is 422.450!
But I am having real trouble programming my scanner using Sentinel. I recall that someone was offering a programming service (supplying the SD card to an order of required TGIDs) I wonder if that is still the case?

Or supplying a 'text' comprehensive guide (not U tube!)
