What "USB version" are you talking about?

If you are talking about a USB-to-RS232 adapter, you need to run/install a Virtual Com Port (VCP) driver so that the operating system thinks that you have another Serial Port installed. UBCT9 works OK with this setup.

or if you know how to do it you can change the port from say 12 to a port that the software will recognize. however you need to be careful with this method, as you need to know which piece of hardware you are changing, so you can change it back later
