Who has a uniden sds100 and uses a pre amp ?

I have experimented with pre amps in the past with various uniden analogue scanners.
The pre amp amplified the signal ok but also the back ground noise...
From memory the unit I used was a GRE Super Amplifier. I believe this is the type of pre amp you are referring to.

If you are using a preamp for what it is designed for, then they work perfectly fine.
If you are expecting a preamp to magically make your scanner more sensitive and bring in more signals, then of course, you are going to be disappointed, like old mate above.
