"stuck open" means that the radio will NOT scan, and all you hear is "white noise".railsquad77 wrote:Anybody know how to fix this unit scanner works but squelch is stuck full on
Thanks
"stuck full on" means that the radio will scan, but the squelch is fully CLOSED, and requires a VERY strong signal to open.
So, is the squelch "stuck open" (as in the Title) or "stuck full on" (as in the body of the message).

It's the potentiometer that the knob attaches to.

With the device powered down you could try spraying a contact cleaning spray into the potentiometer, make sure the fluid have completely evaporated before powering up again.

CRC 226 is my recommendation.

Re: Ubc 330 squelch stuck open
I've got two Uniden scanners that suffered the same problem, it is very intermittent and quite hard to diagnose.
Recently, I replaced the squelch pot in both scanners and the problem is fixed.
When measuring the resistance of the pot (while removed from the pcb), there is leakage between the wiper and both ends of the carbon track. Really odd behaviour, you have to see it to believe it!
I used off-the-shelf pots from Jaycar, they required some cutting to shorten the shaft, and the knobs don't line up properly to keep the pointer in the right position, but they work and are probably much cheaper than Uniden parts.
