Tango callsigns are state resources that aren't attached ato a particular region / division and therefore local call signs aren't appropriate. EG, Dog Squad (yes, some areas have local doggies, but not all), Water Police, Rail Squad, State Traffic, etc..

Hi all
There seems to be a change in callsigns around the area , now prefixed "Mike Mike " , "Mike Golf " ,etc .No more "charlie bravo " or "romeo echo"....
Anyone no anymore ?

According to the broadcastify page for VKR Redcliffe there was this comment... "New call signs to be introduced midnight 22-July in accordance with renaming of QPS Moreton Region, Mike Golf (MG)"

...but yes I was just as confused yesterday too!

As of July 1, Caboolture and Redcliffe Districts were merged to become Moreton District, which is now part of Southern Region (Headquartered in Toowoomba).

Sure seems to be lots of confusion with some of the Operators too trying to get the new numbers in their heads, along with what seems to be many many more call-signs.
Oh well, some serious listening is now required to work out who's on first.... :)

That explains why I no longer here romeo echo or charlie bravo anymore on the air.

I do hear a code being used frequently which is a 619, but can't find what a 619 means. Anyone with an answer?
