QFRS - Fleet 990

Post by Stretch »

Taken out the back of Southport station. Callsign is 636Y but it never really gets used on air but I've seen it running around so I gather Firecom don't keep track of it.

A Yankee is an iZone appliance. Allows Urban Brigades to provide Mutual Aid to Rural Brigades where it is impractical for a normal Urban appliance to venture.

iZone = the Interface Zone, or border area, between Urban Brigade and Rural Brigade areas.

Yeah there's six of them in South East Region (631Y, 633Y, 636Y, 645Y, 673Y, 675Y) and they allow urban crews to venture into the bush.

mate couldnt tell you if it has lockers on both sides, dont really pay that much attention. the RDO parked it out the front of 30 one night when I was there and noticed it had a new diesel pump set. the big heavy scania has been at wynnum for a while now. got shifted there because of its 3000L water capacity and much bigger A and B class foam capacity for potential jobs at the port of brisbane. they also realised that they dont need such a big output pump to run the aerial at kemp place, so they traded trucks.

sorrry for bumbing an old post but from wat ive been told the echos with the rural fire snails mean that rural crews have been trained on them and can come and man them.
they had them go on a strike team to stanthorpe/nsw border area last fire season because they seem to sit around and not get used too much
