Re: Suggestions
Shane
Tried a number of different things to get the spacing to look better with multi-column lists, but none of them would work on this forum.
Apparently an Administrator can add CUSTOM BBcode to php boards, and I found a couple of bits of Code (called MOD files) at the the following URL, that may be of some use.
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... e&start=50
The first one is Spacer BBCode Tag 101, which adds the necessary Code to allow Users to add a Space [space], or a number of Spaces ([space=n], where n is any number from 1 to 99), into their Post.
The second one is Table BBCode 1.3.1, which allows for multi-column tables to be posted, by Users.
Their zipped files contain some instructions on installing the MOD files.

Re: Suggestions
I will look into that for you Terry, I think that freeforums are the only ones that can instal those things for us but I will definatly enquire about it as it will make posting lists of frequencies etc alot easier.

Re: Suggestions
multiple selective monitoring scanner streams ..ie have multiple individual streams such as qfrs regions...and selct the ones you want to monitor...Dont know how you would do it (multiple running programs at the users end...is it possible to have more than one listening program to be run at the same time)..... Just hanging it on you......it would be cool though...just like having your own programmable scanner (nearly) on your pc....still hanging out for dedicated current streams for individual services but.

Re: Suggestions
My suggestion was more of a 'I wish' but if it can be done that would be excellent. Because I dont actually have a scanner anymore since moving to QLD, streaming is the only way I can 'tune-in'. I think something like that would need multiple set-ups dedicated to individual services (and regions) which would take a lot of members to maintain. But maybe if some of you can look at maybe trialling a small setup (the main ones for the south east being Police, QAS, and QFRS), then maybe more new 'curious' members coming on line with the resources to host a single service in their region, add to the list and so it goes. I think you would probably only want to limmit it to having access to say no more than 4 streams at once. Audio quality wouldnt have to be too high a bit rate to keep things running smoothly. 4 kbps is what shows up in winamp for ABC Radio streaming so you can work from there as a guide..and probably for those streaming at the moment you can probably tone down the quality and save some bandwidth.....I dont know if there is any other website doing or offering something like this.....could be a first!

Re: Suggestions
im using 11kb/ps but doing what you want to do would take alot of programing and computer coding etc which I am not sure what to do, but I am still looking into it never the less.
Thanks Shane

Re: Suggestions
This is a great scanning forum
Greater input from members might improve a little;
Like:
Lets hear who owns what scanner/s and how to they rate it?
Personal experiences with antennas and or scanner rigs.
Any reviews of anything.
Recent search finds and idents that you may have come across.
Cheers

Re: Suggestions
actually there is a way except you can't listen to all of them at once but change to another one.

Re: Suggestions
I had a thought last night. If you have multiple media player types...eg windows media player and winamp...you can use both of these at the same time to monitor two diferent streams at the same time (as long as the file is accepted by win media player).

Re: Suggestions
My suggestion is that with Scanners and Radios where there is an actual model, instead of under a particular make eg. Uniden where posts are currently done individually within that section, have all posts relating to that model posted within that section.
EG. Uniden - Scanners - UBC780XLT Trunk Tracker, Uniden - Radios - UH7760NB.
EG. Uniden - Scanners - UBC780XLT Trunk Tracker, Uniden - Radios - UH7760NB.
