QPS Ipswich group Chan 74

Post by rooster »

This morning I noticed no activity on Chan 74 (Mt Glorious) which was part of the Ipswich group. At one point a unit called up for VKR and 'Brisbane Radio' answered and them said they would have to try another channel for VKR. Also heard a few 'testing 1,2,3,4 on channel 74' and 'Toowoomba RES' and just 'RES testing'.

Haven't heard anything for several hours now. I can't monitor any of the other Ipswich channels (I am on the coast) so I don't know if if VKR is down.

Have also had another scanner just searching all of the 128 channels to see if it has been moved, but can't get any other hits for Ipswich.

Anyone a bit closer able to shed some light on Ipswich and chan 74 :?

Hi Rooster. I live a little west of Ipswich and can confirm that the local constabulary is still active on the usual channels. There is a crew currently attending an accident somewhere on the Warrego Highway (??). "...firies have just arrived, we'll need to slow the traffic down a bit for them..." Alex

if toowoomba res is doing counting checks sounds like the repeater is down all radios that need fixing goes to Toowoomba for some reason ?

Strange as it may seem, Ipswich comes under Southern Region, which is Headquartered in Toowoomba. And as far as I know, Southern Region only has Radio Electronics Sections (RES) at Toowoomba, and Roma.

Update,

Nothing heard from 74 over the weekend at all. There was some testing happening this morning and then it began carrying the normal Ipswich comms. Seems to be back up and working.

maybe they need to replace the whole damn piece of equipment instead of wasting there time every few months doing testing. would save them alot of time and money
