According to google maps 8kms.

What I was trying to get at before though was that I can hear all traffic on 457.800Mhz as if it was the output of the repeater not the uplink. I can monitor say 467.350Mhz or 467.675Mhz on the handheld and then on the 780XLT hear both sides of ever conversation on 457.800Mhz.

It's no problem for me as the signal is awesome just wondered why it worked
No idea :?
No worries...

Just thought someone here might have known :)

Like I said works here for whatever reason so I'm not complaining.

The only answer i have is that you are still within simplex range when listening to the imput channel.

I figured that but doesn't explain why I can hear units from all over the region not just Firecom North Coast @ Kawana.

And like I said with the 72XLT with close call on sitting in front of the FS in the car I could hear the other units too from all over the place

Anywho..... Just thought it was werid.

Thanks.

My guess is that the links from all the other Sites in the Vote group come into the Kawana Commcentre, and get rebroadcast on the local Site, via the 457.800 uplink, rather than via a discrete link.

Rebroadcast is often done so that local users know that the operator is busy on one of the other channels.

Should that read 0057479???

It's missing 2 numbers.

PDW will accept 57479 when you put it into the the program.

the program will them add the first 2 zero's once you push save.

So you are both correct. :D

FYI to earlier post, when I have been on Sunshine Coast, I can get reception on Ch 27 (Maleny) for most of Maroochydore to Caloundra, or on Ch 33. Can't remember freq off hand tho.

Was out around Yarraman recently - anyone know what freq's for that area? I only had the one for Kingaroy and Murgon ???
