As you say they have reshuffled their frequencies to cover the whole of the new HGS allocation (467.5000-469.9875Mhz). I have found 14 frequencies on the ACMA within 40km of Bundaberg (listed below). Let us know how you go

467.5375, 468.0250, 468.2250, 468.4000, 468.6750, 468.9000, 469.0000, 469.0500 P25, 469.0750, 469.3250, 469.4750, 469.7250 P25, 469.9000, 469.9750

Two of the frequencies are set up for P25 and maybe encrypted

That is probably the closest site. Having a good antenna in a high location is a large part of the battle of picking up signals

any idea on why they'd be running P25 in that neck of the woods?

You will find that many regional Cities / Towns throughout Queensland have "Stand-Alone" P25 Repeaters for use. Even in Mt Isa! This is for more "Strict Voice Traffic" and when i have been in these regional towns listening, i have heard VKR ask if that unit or units can go across to Digital for a Chat. I have heard them speak "In the clear" in some cases, but mostly they are / can be equipped for Encryption.

Also "Special Ops" like raids and any other critical stuff can occur on these stand alone P25 Repeaters.

I also recall a "Siege" that was occurring and ongoing was "tying up" the local comms channel, so the Commco asked that all Units involved, switch over to Digital Ch XXX.

Hope this helps

Cheers

First chance I've had to check on the freqs for the area as it's gone a bit quiet lately and I saw this post :)
