Re: QLD Police Channels + Work Groups

Post by AIRMAN »

Will someone please explain what Work Groups are and what they represent? I thought that work groups were related to GRN networks, now we are seeing this terminology used in an area which to the best of my knowledge does not have GRN and is an analog QPS area.

The channels listed after with the allotted frequencies are understandable to me. Work Groups sounds like channels that are used in a particular QPS LAC, but I maybe wrong, so please clarify.

Are the frequencies now 12.5kHZ spaced?

Thanks

Ch 70, whose main purpose in life is to serve the Toowoomba "Division", is already listed against Toowoomba.

Bingo. Although I don't believe QPS uses the term LAC (Local Area Command). It's more a NSWPF thing.

They are really Scan Groups, but QPS incorrectly refer to them as Vote Groups.

However, the lists on here are based on members observations of which channels various Radio Traffic is heard, rather than content of actual Radio codeplugs. - See discussions in other Forum.

They have been for at least the last 8 years.

Ch 11, 467.9625, has just popped up in Gympie but isn't in the ACMA data base. Any idea where it is located?

Great, thanks. I just checked and it is at Black Mountain, which is well outside the normal postcode search for this area.

It is a good idea to include all PostCodes within 60-80 km of the area of interest.

The frequency has only recently appeared on the Database. I checked for PostCode Range 4300 to 4689, when you originally posted about the frequency, and it wasn't on there. I am of the opinion that the publicly accessible Database, is only updated about every four to six weeks, as the Database is usually "off for maintenance" on a weekend about every four to six weeks, and "new" entries have been noted after these outages.

It is interesting that the frequency was approved on 07 April last year, but the current Licence is from 5 May 2012 to 04 May 2013.

Can I suggest that the list at the top is grouped by Comms Centre/Region/District so that it makes a little more sense?
EG; in the South East Region list you include Brisbane (not part of SER) and Ipswich (part of SOr.
Currently have: Simoco SRM9000 (TU), Yaesu FT65, GME XRS370, GME TX6155 x 2, Icom IC400 Pro x 2, Icom IC41 Pro x 3
