CB antennas info and identification

Post by Gearbox92 »

Hi,

I have been scanning for a reasonable amount of time now and have also setup data decoders and dabled in Sdr. Now I'm about to buy a CB radio for a new vehicle and would love some advice.

I'll be the first to admit I have no great idea on antennas, especially the different types and the pros and cons of them. Can anyone recommend an antenna to go with a ic-400, bull bar mounted, for 468-477mhz?

I had this lying around too and have no idea what it is. It's 790mm in length. Image

Thanks in advance for your help!

The antenna in the picture looks like a RFI antenna and looks like a vhf because the uhf ones have a spring in the centre. A GME AE409L 6 & 9db UHF CB Antenna, It will do 6db and convert into 9db.

Thanks for your reply!
Researching that antenna led me to the gme AE4018k1. Has anyone had any experience with that compared to the AE409L?

Iv personally used the AE409L my issue with it is after a while the whip will stay bent over but otherwise a good antenna, as for the RFI there is no physical difference between the VHF and UHF except the whip length
