Pop'Comm Monitoring Station Program

Pop'Comm Monitors On the Web

Has anybody signed up for this? I am AUS7PB. I think it is a really good idea and the certificates look really good. I have noticed a couple of other Australian's already signed up.

I had a look, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what this is all about. Perhaps you could enlighten me.....Is this more of a ham thing?

Basically it is a program for people with an interest in radio communications to register and be part of the program. Nothing to do with ham radio at all.

Okay perhaps my question was unclear and apologize if so, I understand it is a register, I was more interested in what it actually does and the benefits. Anyway thanks for replying.

It’s just one of those American things. They really love having certificates for just about every activity one can think of.

Fair comment but having said that quite a few people from other countries have joined up so it is not just a "American thing".

Nobody is forcing anybody to join up if they don't want...

I have not seen / heard anything about that but I guess somebody could create a forum / Yahoo group for that.

I'm wondering the same thing ....
Apart from the certificate is there any practical use?

It's to make scanning people feel included, if they can't/won't get a ham licence they can still have something official looking on the wall. No practical use.
