Department of Corrective Services (DOCS)

Post by Stretch »

Found these whilst I was in Kempsey. Did a search on ACMA for freqs in the area. Unfortunately it was a weekend so nothing was on. Would these be part of the NSW GRN???

Been told they're not in the GRN. Freq range doesn't match.

The NSW GRN frequencies (incidently licensed to the Department of Commerce) are in the range 413.1000 to 419.8500 MHz.

I believe most Trunk Tracking scanners need to be set up with a Custom Band Plan for them to follow the GRN correctly. At least some scanners, such as the Uniden BC780, require the information to be entered in the frequency order shown below.

415.5750 Offset 380 Step 12.5 KHz
413.1000 Offset 723 Step 12.5 KHz
415.0000 Offset 748 Step 12.5 KHz

How would you do that with a UBCT8.

I didn't know it was possible to change the steps.

And whats offset?

RTFM (page 45). Although they refer to the Step as Spacing Frequencies. See attached.

What the hell were you doing in Kempsey???? I had to work there one weekend and we stayed above the pub. There was a large brawl outside and the participants were rolling accross the bonnet of my car! NOT very bloody impressed! ha!
Cheers

When we/I travel to Sydney we often stop at Kempsey. Roughly half way between Gold Coast and Sydney.

Hy Stretch,

You will find the UBCT8 very limited when it comes to Trunking the GRN when travelling, not the best scanner as you need to entre the whole site - Control Channel and all site frequencies for the UBCT8 to trunk correctly, and with what! 250 usable channels? The UBCT8 is not the best trunk tracking scanner and really a back step from the UBC780 that it replaced.

Great as a home base scanner where you only need to monitor one site, but mobile :sc

Yeah I've read elsewhere that you gotta have the Trunk Tracker IV type scanner to successfully and efficiently monitor the GRN.

Looking at getting either a Uniden 396T or a 996T (I think they're thats them) for when I go down south :)

Cheers Grant

I know this is a small gripe..and most likely petty on my part, but the CORRECT abbreviation for this topic is CS ( Corrective Services ) DOCS is the Department of Community Services.....the ones that take the kiddies away from parents that cant make ends meet 'cause the Government and Big Business keep changing the rules and raising the price on everything....and the fines for NOT being able to afford their OUTRAGEOUS charges in the first place

Azoic i am often around your neck of the woods with family in Ballina and Urunga do you find that you are only able to listen to one type of thing and there is very limited to listen to then say Sydney where the scanner generally goes nuts with all the traffic around it
