Newbie buying a UBCD396XT

Hi everyone,
I will probably be buying a Uniden UBCD396XT from Jim at ozscan for $380.
It will come with SAGRN emergency services pre-programmed.
Does anyone have any feedback (good or bad) about this scanner? Is it a good buy?
I currently have a ex SAPOL Motorola XTS3000 radio, but I want to upgrade, and get a scanner that is a but smaller in size. (If anyone wants this radio, I will probably be selling it soon)
Also, If I ever want to change the channels etc for the radio, is it easy to do? If so, is it by using freescan?
I guess my concern is, when updates come through and published on ozscan's blog, will it be easy for me to install?
I am a no0b when it comes to scanners, but I am quite tech-savvy.

Also, I assume the UBCD396XT picks up the current analogue GRN transmissions.

Thanks everyone.

Alex

I have the 396XT. It is a great scanner and I use freescan to update channels.

I upgraded from the 93XLT primarily because of alpha tagging and also due to it being able to receive on almost every frequency.
