Channel 9 new helicopter?

Post by SteveO »

Is Channel 9 getting a new helicopter? I thought I heard them say this morning that the current one only has 30 hours left.

Channel 9 new helicopter?

The tv choppers have a certain amount of allocated engine hours before each service. They also have a certain amount of hours they are supposed to stay under per financial year for budget reasons

The term hours left can relate to either...

Unleaded to the OP, but I take it all of the media choppers are fitted with analogue QPS radio?
Currently have: Simoco SRM9000 (TU), Yaesu FT65, GME XRS370, GME TX6155 x 2, Icom IC400 Pro x 2, Icom IC41 Pro x 3

I don't believe that they would. Any communications to the police would be via mobile phone. mstrkrft?

Channel 7 chopper can listen and talk on all analog channels

9 chopper apparently can listen but I don't think anyone there knows how to anymore

10's chopper (that will disappear permanently very soon) has actually been a rental since the fatal mt coot-tha crash years ago and I don't think is equipped with that sort of gear
