I'm heading up to Taree for Chrissy to see relatives and thought i'd take the 396 with me. Are the police in the clear in Taree or encrypted?

Still in the clear apparently.

Just setup a system or custom search for 467.850 - 469.425 (with a NAC of 61F if you want, assuming you have the 396XT) and you should pick them up.

from memory Taree is analogue still you will get P25 at bulahdelah which will not be NAC 61F as it is in the Zone 2 but they could have upgraded since i was last down there

They are running analogue VHF and analogue/P25 UHF in the Taree area, all patched in together
I was listening to P25 469.3750 Tx Middle Brother from Port Macquarie between Xmas and New Year.
Analogue UHF maybe be on its last legs in Taree, if not already gone

These are the new P25 frequencies for the Taree area Vote
Not known which ones are currently operational except for 469.3750.
I tend to fly over Taree rather than drive past

ZONE 3 VOTE 163 Common Input 459.9125Mhz
468.0875 Gloucester
468.9375 Taree
468.6875 Taree
469.3750 Middle Brother - operational
469.4125 Gloucester

NAC is definitely 61F ie Zone 3

Update on Oscar around Port Macquarie 25-29th January 2013

ZONE 3 VOTE 127 Common Input 459.0125Mhz
468.1375 Mt Cairncross Port Macquarie
468.5125 Jolly Nose Hill Port Macquarie - Now Active late Jan 2013
468.8375 Transit Hill Port Macquarie - Now Active late Jan 2013

468.9625 Yarras Mt Seaview
469.3375 Middle Brother

Both 468.5125 and 468.8375 were sharing the same radio id on my PSR-800
The sites appear to be under test and are just retransmitting patched analog audio as a P25 signal

I am heading up to Port Macquarie at end of February by car, so i am going to have a few breaks during the four hour trip to check out what is active and not active north of Bulahdelah.
I tend to fly up there from Sydney Airport as it is convenient after a Thursday night shift in the Sydney CBD

Update 9/3/13 - still no change from above.

I was actually sitting in my mates mid nth coast patrol car today, he has a Digital Radio, Analogue Radio and a UHF CB in it. It was good listening to encrypted P25 again...decrypted ;)

Update 8/3/13 - At the four mile rest stop high on the range south of and overlooking Taree

468.6875 Taree Police Station - P25 operational
468.9375 Mt Marie near Taree - P25 operational
469.3750 Middle Brother - P25 operational

No analogue heard on UHF 468Mhz band

The other two sites are not easy to monitor except if you are in that area, as the terrain is quite rugged (especially if you are looking down from a plane). I suspect that the P25 is operational throughout the Manning area as the Wingham vehicle is using a digital radio

468.0875 Mt Berrico near Gloucester
469.4125 Mt George near Wingham

I know this is not related to the mid north coast freqs, but at my farm in the Lower Hunter I listen to Central Hunter and Manning as far as and including Taree on analog 468.050, which I think is on Broken Back Mountain in the Hunter vineyards.

Central Hunter and Manning seem to share the same zone as far as radio is concerned?

It is patched audio between Port Stephens, Central Hunter and Manning-Great Lakes LAC's
I think the devices they use are called DIU (Digital Interface Units) so that analogue and digital signals can be mixed into a patch.
From my occasional listening it seems that most of Port Stephens and Manning-Great Lakes commands are transmitting in P25 whereas there are some analog sites in Central Hunter still to be changed over.

468.1375, 468.5125, 468.8375, 469.3375 up and operational.
Nac 61f. patch I'd "5". With local cars rids appearing on my psr800

Haven't heard 468.9625 yet
Analog network still operating
