Flighttracker website

Post by gleff »

Hi all,

While not strictly scanning related, although I do have a link to ATC.NET's sydney stream from my site, I thought people here might be interested in my flighttracker site I built a little while ago. It allows you to track flights around sydney by decoding the ADS-B signals from the aircraft and then plots the aircraft on google maps. It updates every 20 seconds.

It uses the Kinetic Aviation SBS-1.

If you want to check it out, the URL is in my profile.

There is a an offical airport site which shows the aircarft nearby, for noise pollution reasons. It doesn't cover the range available to ADS-B receivers but looks like a feed from the main airport radar and so shows aircraft without ACARS or ADS-B.

An interesting site.

It seems similar to www.planefinder.net which I have been using for some time. This works over most of the globe. I have no idea where their data comes from.
