Yaesu VR-120D

Post by Scannersplitterguy »

Merry Christmas everyone,

I bought a used (but like new) Yaesu VR-120D portable comms receiver this week.
Great little radio, although trying to remember all the key sequences needed to operate it are very tricky.
The only thing I don't like is the display brightness. It seems dull for a backlit LCD.
Does anyone else here own one? What's the display like?

I do have one of these and do love it.

The light isn't the brightest but you need to look at a angle to view it properly as looking at is straight in front it's very dull.

I have a uniden scanner as well and that's heaps brighter but the Yaesu battery life last heaps longer.

Well, at least I know I haven't bought a dud.
You're right about the battery life, I charged a pair of 1700mAh NiMh batteries and they show no signs of going flat yet - after at least 20 hours of use. My UBC72XLT would kill those batteries in 3-4 hours!!
